Responsibility

Our promise – our responsibility

For us, sustainability means taking responsibility – equally for the well-being of present and future generations. We are convinced that successful business and environmentally conscious and charitable actions are compatible. That is why assuming responsibility and social commitment is a matter of course for us. We are concerned about the future and have set ourselves social and ecological standards that are binding for us and all our suppliers.

Ecological

Climate

Climate change is undeniably one of the greatest challenges of our time. That’s why we also want to make a contribution to climate protection and our planet.

What are we trying to achieve?

Minimize CO2 footprint.

We want to become climate-neutral by 2030. This goal extends to all our sites, transports, employee mobility, and external data centers and cloud services. Erreichen wollen wir das durch konkrete Maßnahmen zur Vermeidung oder Verringerung von CO2-Emissionen.

Materials

In order to conserve natural resources, we deliberately focus on a few selected materials in our product portfolio and are steadily expanding the proportion of renewable, recyclable materials such as wood, fibers and paper.

What are we trying to achieve?

Use sustainable raw materials.

By 2025, all of our shipping and private label packaging, as well as all of our catalog paper, should be made from sustainable materials. In addition, we are gradually switching our own brands to materials made from more sustainable raw materials. In addition, by 2027 at the latest, the most important materials of animal origin are to be procured exclusively from certified sources.

Supply chain transparency

What are we trying to achieve?

Making sustainability transparent.

In the long term, we would like to uncover the complete supply chain of all private label items, from raw material to finished product. In this way, we create internal security and transparency for our customers.

Engagement

Targeted support

The interests of children and families are very close to our hearts. That is why we have been supporting a wide variety of charitable organizations, associations and social projects for children and families since the company was founded.

What have we achieved?

Together for children

To help specifically where help is needed, we launched the “Together for Children!” campaign on betterplace.org. Together with our employees, customers and partners, we were able to collect more than 70,000 euros via the donation platform and thus support large and small children’s projects in Germany and around the world.

Platz schaffen mit Herz

“Helping together” is also possible in passing: with clothing donations. We all know that children grow up quickly. What’s left behind are clothes in good condition, piled up in the basement or attic. We think clothing can do more than that. That’s why we support the “Platz schaffen mit Herz” initiative launched by our sister company OTTO. With every clothing donation, employees and customers help charitable organizations and projects.

What are we trying to achieve?

We are convinced that every help counts and that we can make a big difference even through small things – together. Therefore, we will continue to advocate for families and children and welcome all those who support us in this endeavor.
